description Job Description
About the Role
We're looking for an experienced Quality Engineer to test ecommerce and web experiences, with a strong emphasis on Chromium-based browser extensions (Chrome, Edge). This role blends hands-on manual testing and defect investigation with maintenance of existing Playwright automation — you'll need to be equally comfortable digging into browser dev tools to root-cause an issue and extending an existing test suite. Hands-on Chromium extension testing experience is a must-have for this role, not a nice-to-have. This is an onsite contract engagement, five days per week.
What You'll Do
•
Create test plans and test cases from product requirements and designs
•
Perform manual testing of ecommerce and web experiences, with a focus on Chromium-based browser extensions (Chrome, Edge)
•
Conduct exploratory, regression, and end-to-end testing
•
Report defects with clear reproduction steps and supporting evidence
•
Investigate issues using browser dev tools, logs, HAR files, and network traces
•
Maintain test cases and regression suites in a test management tool (e.g., Qase)
•
Build and maintain Playwright tests in Python or TypeScript
•
Work within existing automation frameworks and CI pipelines
•
Collaborate closely with engineering and product teams, communicating results, blockers, and risks clearly
What You Bring
•
Hands-on Chromium browser extension testing experience (Chrome and/or Edge) — required
•
5+ years of software testing experience
•
Strong manual testing and defect investigation skills, including test plan and test case creation
•
Hands-on experience with Playwright (Python or TypeScript)
•
Strong understanding of browser behavior and web technologies, including browser dev tools and network debugging
•
Experience with Jira or similar test management and issue tracking tools
•
Experience working within CI pipelines and existing automation frameworks
•
Ability to work onsite five days per week
Nice to Have
•
Safari extension testing experience (support planned but not yet required)
•
Experience testing ecommerce-specific workflows (checkout, payments, cart logic)
Why This Role
•
Full-spectrum QE ownership: Blend manual, exploratory, and automated testing rather than being siloed into one
•
Real technical depth: Root-cause issues using dev tools, HAR files, and network traces, not just log defects
•
Established foundation: Work within existing CI/automation pipelines rather than building from scratch
•
Direct collaboration: Close partnership with engineering and product teams
