description Job Description
We’re seeking a Senior Accounting Manager to help lead external financial reporting at Chime! This role sits on the Controllership team and will help to own the preparation of our public company filings — Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K — along with statutory reporting and equity accounting under ASC 718. You will be a technical resource for the broader accounting organization, partnering closely with Legal, FP&A, People, Stock Administration and our external auditors, and you will have real ownership of the processes and controls behind numbers that go to the market.
The base salary offered for this role and level of experience will begin at $160,000.00 and up to $221,000.00. Full-time employees are also eligible for a bonus, competitive equity package, and benefits. The actual base salary offered may be higher, depending on your location, skills, qualifications, and experience.
In this role, you can expect to
• Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings (Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K), including financial statements, footnotes, EPS and equity rollforwards
• Manage the reporting calendar, disclosure checklists, XBRL tagging and tie-out support files, coordinating deliverables across Legal, FP&A, Investor Relations and the external auditors
• Own equity accounting under ASC 718 across RSUs, options and ESPP, including the accounting for modifications, cancellations and other non-routine award activity
• Prepare and review statutory and regulatory financial statements and supporting filings
• Establish scalable intercompany accounting processes and reporting to support a growing multi-entity structure.
• Review journal entries, reconciliations and flux analysis at month-end close for equity and reporting areas
• Document and maintain SOX-compliant accounting policies, processes and internal controls over financial reporting, and drive automation of manual procedures
To thrive in this role, you have
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a minimum of 6 years of accounting experience. Big 4 public accounting preferred.
• CPA preferred, with deep working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and SEC rules and regulations (Regulation S-X and S-K)
• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing Forms 10-Q, 10-K and 8-K.
• Demonstrated ownership of stock-based compensation accounting
• Experience with intercompany and statutory reporting
• Excellent interpersonal, time and self-management skills, with the ability to prioritize and deliver against hard filing deadlines
• Phenomenal teammate with a positive attitude that embraces change, thrives in a fast-paced environment, and brings strong analytical and problem solving skills
• Advanced Microsoft Excel/Google Sheets skills
• Demonstrated use of AI tools to improve accounting workflows, such as drafting documentation, analyzing large data sets, or automating repetitive close tasks.
• Bonus Experience: Workiva, NetSuite, Shareworks
